The martingale of Wells: an extension of the pyramid of Alembert
Presentation of the martingale of Wells
Exactly as for the pyramid of Alembert, one increments the current setting if the last result is losing, and one it décrémente when it is losing.
The starting setting is several times the basic setting, generally 5 times. If the player gains, it once decreases the current setting of the basic setting, with a minimum equivalent to the basic setting. If it loses it the current setting of an amount equal to the basic setting increases. The principle is thus identical to the pyramid of Alembert, unlike the starting setting.
Example of application of the martingale of Wells
Let us continue our usual example by playing the red with the French roulette. The basic setting will be equal to the unit.

The martingale is overdrawn on this example. The number of failures more significant than the number of successes weighs on the evolution of the balance. Indeed the evolution of the supposed settings to compensate for the losses remains negligible compared to the starting setting.
For and against the rising one of Wells
The variation of the current setting compared to the basic setting is weaker than for the pyramid of Alembert, but overall, with identical basic setting, the current setting is more important taking into account the difference in starting setting between the two methods.
With a progression of the settings relatively limited, this martingale has the advantage of being rather fast.
